Pittsburgh's Strip District Is Still the Night
The Strip District along Penn and Smallman is Pittsburgh's working nightlife neighborhood. Cinderlands Warehouse is the big-room brewery-bar that anchors the corridor. Savoy does the upscale cocktail thing with live music most nights. Mullaney's Harp and Fiddle has been pulling pints since 1993.
For the music, Mr. Smalls in Millvale and Spirit Hall in Lawrenceville book touring indie and rock. The South Side on Carson Street is still the sprawling bar crawl strip — some of it's great, some of it's college-volume; both versions happen simultaneously on weekends.
Pittsburgh has neighborhood bar density that most cities can't match. Last call at 2 AM, and the cab/Uber math across the bridges home is better than you'd expect.
